Brandon P. Kelsey is an associate attorney with Hughes & Hughes. Mr. Kelsey was raised in Aurora, Illinois.
Mr. Kelsey completed his undergraduate education at Illinois State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of the Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Music Performance in 2009. Mr. Kelsey was actively involved in national Mock Trial competition throughout his time at ISU, including being named the school’s Captain in his third year. Thereafter, Mr. Kelsey turned his attention from the cold plains of central Illinois to sunny San Diego, where he earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2012. While attending law school, Mr. Kelsey completed internships as a Certified Law Clerk with both the San Diego County Primary Public Defender and the Multiple Conflicts Office: Major Cases unit. Mr. Kelsey competed regionally and nationally as a member of the USD National Trial Team throughout his law school career, and continues to serve as a guest judge for local and regional Mock Trial competitions in the San Diego area.
Prior to joining Hughes & Hughes, Mr. Kelsey litigated family law, criminal, and civil cases at a small family law firm in Orange County.
Mr. Kelsey considers his close friends as dear as family, and spends most of his free time with them, watching and playing soccer, camping, cooking, playing billiards, and generally enjoying all that Orange County has to offer.
Personal note: “The process of wading through the legal system in California, particularly as it relates to family law, is an arduous one. I’m here to make the transition through what can often be a trying time as painless and as efficient as possible. Whether we are dealing with a situation where everyone is on the same page, or two sides of a very long, heated battle want to formally try the entire matter in Court, my goal will always be the same – to move you and your loved ones onward and upward.”
