Coachella Valley Family Law Firm - Hughes and Hughes

David E. Wald joined Hughes & Hughes as a firm principal following a 35-year esteemed professional career. Mr. Wald has been universally recognized by his fellow family law practitioners and family law judicial officers as an aggressive, experienced litigator of family law matters and as a professional and compassionate counselor of law. Mr. Wald has earned this respect by never forgetting that it is the professional responsibility of an attorney--as an officer of the court--to not just effectively and zealously represent the interests of his clients, but also to insure the law. This fervent belief is epitomized in the famous quote by Abraham Lincoln: "Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. As a peacemaker the lawyer has the superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough."

Mr. Wald earned his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He is admitted to practice law in all courts of the State of California and has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Wald has frequently been appointed by the Superior Court to act as Judge Pro Tem and as Special Master to the Court. He has authored articles that have appeared in law journals and is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Publication. He has participated as a featured speaker and panelist on numerous symposiums and presentations on topics related to family law. Mr. Wald has, as an adjunct professor, authored course materials and lectured a ten-week post-graduate course on forensic accounting in family law cases.

David was reared in rural Illinois. As a very young child, he would accompany his physician father on house calls to nursing homes and veteran's hospitals where David would sing familiar songs, perform a stand-up comedy routine and, in general, provide entertainment for the lonely, ill, and disadvantaged patients. Now many years later, David is pleased to be able to continue to sing and entertain gravely sick children in Children's Hospital and lonely residents of the Long Beach Veteran's Hospital Nursing Home. The ability to sing has provided him with many exciting opportunities throughout his life. As a member of the Young Americans, he toured and performed with the legendary singer, Johnny Mathis. As a member of the William Hall Master Chorale, he has performed before a crowd of 10,000 in the St. Paul's Outside The Walls Basilica; experienced a private singing audience with Pope John Paul II in the Vatican; and performed in the Sistine Chapel, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, the Sydney Opera House, and numerous venues throughout Southern California.

"For those who have been given much, much is expected."- Luke 12:48

During the past 30 years, Mr. Wald has assumed various leadership roles in Orange County charities and philanthropic organizations including the Newport-Mesa YMCA, the US Open of Wheelchair Tennis, and Children's Hospital of Orange County.

Mr. Wald is blessed with exceptional health, abundant energy, and a loving wife and best friend, Patty, with whom to enjoy tennis, golf, skiing, and the incredible journey of life.
