Tonya Anderson is an associate attorney with Hughes & Hughes.  Ms. Anderson grew up in Orange County, California.

Ms. Anderson earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine, where she majored in Criminology, Law & Society and Social Ecology.  Ms. Anderson attended Western State College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Juris Doctor. 

During law school, Ms. Anderson worked full-time as a legal secretary at a construction defect law firm while attending part-time evening classes.  Despite her demanding schedule, Ms. Anderson was a Deans’ Fellow, a member of the Deans’ Circle, a member of the Distinguished Honor Roll, earned a Certificate of Exemplary Public Service for completing over 200 hours of community service, and was awarded a scholarship through the Summer Honors Fellowship Program.  Ms. Anderson also earned four Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence, each awarded for achieving the highest grade in a law school course.

While studying for the bar, the Orange County Women Lawyers Association awarded Ms. Anderson a bar stipend for her commitment to scholarship, community service, advancement of women or women’s issues, and to Orange Country.

After graduating from law school, Ms. Anderson volunteered with the Riverside Office of the Public Defender as a certified law clerk.  While with the Public Defender’s office, Ms. Anderson represented indigent clients at misdemeanor and felony arraignments. 

Ms. Anderson enjoys volunteering, reading, cooking, and spending time with her puppy.
